Marlene Kler received her undergraduate and graduate degrees in economics from Wayne State University. Mrs. Kler has held numerous executive positions in the newspaper industry and strives to incorporate her real world experiences into the classroom.
Throughout her career, she has been responsible for various organizational departments such as technology, production, facilities and human resources, with a focus on strategic planning and managing change with practical and cost effective solutions. She served on the Knight Ridder Corporate Strategy Task Force Human Resources Team, the Technology Team and the Knight Ridder Management Initiative Team. She directed the development of The Sun Herald Emergency Action Plan and was instrumental in the newspaper’s continued operation during and in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. She was honored with the 2004 Knight Ridder Operations Excellence award.
Mrs. Kler is a member of the American Economic Association and American Political Science Association.
