Aaron Blendowski (b. 1982) lives and works as an independent designer in Detroit. He is a graduate of the College for Creative Studies (2004) and Cranbrook Academy of Art (2006), where he studied industrial design, crafts, sculpture, and sustainability.
Working across design and art disciplines, his creative endeavors employ industrial processes and an imaginative and interdisciplinary skill set. He produces functional-sculptural objects, two-dimensional graphics, product hybrids, behavioral furniture, immersive audio-visual installations, all which range in scale from architecture to hand-held objects. His work seeks to expose and nurture our rich human history and evoke viewers' sense of artistic license and humor. Through individual work and collaboration, he exhibits work locally and abroad.
He is currently a Professor of Practice at Lawrence Technological University in the College of Architecture and Design and concurrently works as Fabrications Coordinator and Central Materials Lab Manager at Cranbrook Academy of Art. His multi-disciplinary practice and studio are located in Eastern Market Detroit.
