This program will be effective each academic year from September through June.
For the first time in the University's history, the Office of the President and CEO will recognize a department that has made a significant contribution to the University as a team during one of the previous three (3) quarters (January-March, April-June, and September-December). All departments with a unique budget are eligible for this award.
To be considered, departments must implement a new initiative that aligned with the strategic plan or has made a significant contribution in one of the following areas:

1) Demonstrate exceptional financial and budget control
2) Receive an industry award from a recognized external constituent
3) Create a partnership that will benefit the University
4) Any other contribution which is noteworthy
Nominations will be accepted from executives or higher, colleagues and peers within the University. Departments may nominate themselves; and those associated with third-party organizations are also invited to submit nominations. However, please note, that nominations submitted by anyone other than the department's senior executive in the university must be accompanied by a letter of recommendation from that senior executive.
Recommendation letters should be emailed to with "Department of the Excellence Letter of Recommendation" in the subject line.
A selection committee comprised of the president, provost, vice president of Finance and executive director of Human Resources will review the submissions and select the Department of Excellence. Winners will be recognized personally by President Moudgil.
