JOB DUTIES: The Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering at Lawrence Technological University invites applications for a Tenure Track Assistant Professor in Architectural Engineering, starting in the 2018 – 2019 Academic Year. The starting date will be January 2018, or as soon as possible thereafter. Review of the applications will commence upon receipt and continue until the position is filled.
The Master of Architectural Engineering (MSArE) is a five year, integrated bachelors-masters program within the Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering. The program is ABET accredited. Lawrence Tech is strategically located in the largest engineering market in Michigan, with opportunities for faculty involvement with major projects, firms and organizations.
The desired candidate should have a strong commitment to teaching and the ability to attract, develop, and sustain a strong externally funded research program. In addition to teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in architectural engineering, other responsibilities include service to the University and graduate/undergraduate student advising. The candidate is expected to have a strong teaching background with a teaching philosophy that matches well with the theory and practice philosophy of the University.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants should have earned, or be in the process of earning a Ph.D. in architectural engineering, electrical engineering, or a closely related field with expertise in electrical, power, lighting, daylighting and building controls. Candidates with outstanding professional experience and demonstrated contributions to the teaching discipline, appropriate educational preparedness, and/or a desire to obtain a Ph.D. will be considered. Recognition in journals, online sources, or textbooks on the discipline, certifications (e.g LEED, WELL, etc.), professional registry (P.E.), and other discipline-related documentation that demonstrates third party recognition of the applicant’s expertise in the field, is desired and will be considered.
